Movie Amenities
What is an Amenity?
In Theater Toolkit we have the ability to group together the events scheduled in your ticketing system to denote a specific quality of those events. A few examples would be a special theater experience such as IMAX or unique events that go beyond the normal movie viewing.
These Amenities will group showtimes together under a heading. By default, all Amenities are Reserved or Non-Reserved, but we can add a new Amenity for anything.
We also have the ability to show sub-amenities
How Do We Detect Amenities?
We have 4 different ways that we can detect amenities, each for a different use case.
Company Wide
We can setup an amenity to display on all films scheduled. This is all done on our end and requires no action from you. This can be useful if all of your auditoriums use a specific projector that you want to promote.
Auditorium Specific
This functions similarly to the Company Wide Amenity. There is no setup on your end. We can have showtimes scheduled in a specific auditorium always show a specific Amenity such as IMAX.
Ticketing System Flag
In your ticketing system there are certain flags that can be set for your events. In RTS these can be found under Settings as Internet Settings (see RTS article here). For Vista these are called Attributes (see the Amenities with VISTA Attributes and Formats article). For us to set these up, we just need to know the exact name of the flag in your ticketing system. As long as you have that set on your events, the Amenity will show on the site.
Match Code
The last option we have is the most flexible. We can setup an Amenity to look for a specific string of text in the film title. When our system detects that match code, we will strip it out of the title and then apply the Amenity to be displayed on the site. This is flexible because we can call the Amenity whatever you would like and the match code can be anything. For example, if you wanted to have a Special Event amenity and you wanted it applied to Spiderman you could simply name it SE Spiderman in your ticketing system. Whatever you want the Amenity to be named and the match code to be, just let us know and we will set it up.
Descriptions
We can also add a description to any of your amenities. Just let us know what text you would like added. When an amenity has a description, it will show a question mark next to the amenity name on movie posters.
This will open a popup with the description.
Pages
We can also setup a page for your Amenity. This can include image and text content but will also have the same Now Playing display as the home page, except it will filter down to only the movies and showtimes that have that Amenity. We can also include either a Coming Soon grid or slider filtered for the Amenity.
