Summary

Ticket types are options shown to customers during checkout, such as Adult, Child, Military, or Senior. Theater Toolkit retrieves these from your POS system and includes logic to customize their display. Theater Toolkit integrates with your POS system to streamline ticket purchasing by displaying available ticket types. This article covers how to manage, sort, and filter ticket types within Theater Toolkit.

Sort Order

In the checkout process, customers need to select the type of ticket they are purchasing after selecting their seats. The ticket type options are pulled from your box office POS and displayed to the user. By default, the first ticket type option is selected .

Theater Toolkit can be configured to display the available ticket types in the following sort order:

  • Default – the order provided by the POS system (default setting)
  • Name – resort the data to display in alphabetical order
  • Price – resort the data to display with highest price to lowest price

Best Practice
We recommend setting the most common ticket type sold to be first so the user is less likely to have to make a change to the selection in the checkout process.

Ticket Type Filtering

Before ticket types are shown to the user, Theater Toolkit applies a filtering step to remove ineligible or restricted ticket types based on user status. This ensures only valid ticket types are displayed for a smoother and more secure checkout experience.

  • Loyalty Tickets:
    Ticket types that begin with the word “Loyalty” are excluded from the list unless the user is logged into a valid loyalty account.

  • Subscription Tickets:
    Ticket types that contain an open bracket “[“ character are treated as subscription-only tickets. These tickets are hidden by default and only displayed if the user is enrolled in an active subscription program that matches the token enclosed in brackets. Work with your support agent to assign the ticket types you setup to the appropriate subscription tiers.
    Example:
    A ticket named “Member Ticket [VIP]” will only appear for users who belong to the VIP subscription tier. Each subscription tier is assigned a single token (e.g., [VIP]), which can be reused across multiple ticket types. For instance, tickets like “Adult [VIP]”, “Matinee [VIP]”, and “Senior [VIP]” would all be available to users in the VIP tier.
