RTS Film Setup

Published:

When adding or updating films in RTS, there are few things that Theater Toolkit will need configured in order for the site to pull in and display the film properly.

TMDB URL

In film setup, there is a “Website” field (circled below in red) where Theater Toolkit looks for a TMDB url.
TMDB is a movie database that TTK connects to and pulls movie assets from. When you are adding a film, copy the URL from TMDB for that film and paste it into the “Website” field. For instance if you were adding The Goonies to RTS, you would paste this link from TMDB into the “Website” field: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/9340-the-goonies. If you have a custom entry, you’ll leave this field blank. It will not match, and instead our platform will look for an override record to use. Refer to the Movie Management article to learn more about override records.

If you are adding a film that is a unique version of standard film and you want it displayed separately with its own poster, you’ll need to change the title of the film and customize the default assets. Refer to Movie Management article. Films with the same title will be combined in Theater Toolkit causing them to display as a single feature on the website.

RTS Film Codes

When adding RTS Film Codes, there are some special considerations that need to take place for TTK to display the films properly. TTK will automatically combine films that have the same film code and TMDB URL. However, if Theater Toolkit sees films with different titles, it will treat them as separate films and display them separately.

Ticket Setup

For the film to display on the website, all permissions will need to be correctly set. In ticket types, Theater Toolkit needs to be checked under API Access. Also, the “Enabled Web API” box needs to be checked as shown in the attached image. Without that option selected, we will not have access to that ticket type. If no ticket types for a showtime have those selections, we will not be able to display the showtime on the website. To learn more about setting up tickets, Click Here.
