Movie Management

Published:

In the portal you have the ability to edit movie data. With the TMDB ID or URL attached to the film when scheduling in your ticketing system, your movies should have all the default assets from TMDB. In the case that you want to customize the movie assets you can navigate to the Movies tab in the portal.

TMDB Movie List

TMDB Movies is simply a list of all the films we have in our system that have been matched to a TMDB listing. The list can be filtered if you are searching for a specific film, and each entry can be selected to see all the details that are pulled in from TMDB. This section is just informational.

Company Movies and Overrides

This list will display all of the movies you currently have scheduled in your system. Just like the TMDB list, this list can be filtered to find specific items.

Feature Details

Title

This is the Title that was entered in your system when the film was entered.

Poster

This is the poster that is currently displaying on the site for this specific feature. It will display the TMDB poster by default unless overridden.

Code

This is the film code that Theater Toolkit receives from your system.

Status

Lists statuses and overrides

  • Unmatched
The scheduled feature does not have a TMDB listing associated by use of TMDB ID or URL in the film setup.
  • Matched
The scheduled feature does have a TMDB listing associated, and the movie assets have been synced from TMDB
  • Sync Needed
We have detected the entry of the TMDB ID or URL on the movie but have not synced the assets from TMDB to the feature yet.
  • TMDB/Company-Wide/[Location] Overrides
When one of these are listed then the feature already has an override which can be edited.

Adding and Editing Overrides

When features are first pulled into Theater Toolkit from your system, they will have no Overrides. We will simply be displaying the default assets from TMDB. You can Add Overrides using the three options on the right. You will not see the TMDB Override if the film is not matched with a TMDB listing. Any custom events will not have TMDB listings because they are unique to your company.

Admin Portal Override Types.png

There is an order of precedence for the three Overrides. TMDB has the lowest precedence, then Company-Wide, and then the location-specific Override takes the highest precedence.

To add the trailer, all you need to do is find the trailer you want from YouTube and paste the embed link to the Trailer field in the portal.

You can find the embed code by clicking the share button on the video.

To add posters or backdrops you can either upload them from your computer or you can link them from the Media Manager. For instructions on using the Media Manager see this article.

Posters:
When uploading posters, you will want to create large, medium, and small versions. The respective sizes for each in px are 1000 x 1500, 500 x 750, and 342 x 513.

Backdrops:
Recommended backdrop sizes for large, medium, and small versions are 2560 x 1440, 1280 x 720, and 780 x 439.

Hero Slides:
There are only two sizes used for Hero Slides: Desktop and Mobile.

Desktop: 1920 x 775
Mobile: 480 x 525

Hide Until allows you to not display the Film on the theater site until the allotted time, while Prevent Sales Until still displays the Film Poster/Details, while not allowing users to purchase tickets until the allotted time.

In the event a film is coming out and you wish to bring more attention to it, you can make the film take priority in the Hero sliders via the “Promos” section.

In the event you wish to add more information outside of the Movie Description, you can add it in the Extra Info section and it’ll display below the Description section of the Movie Details page.

Movie Posters in the Now Playing and Coming soon section are controlled by the movie’s Release Date. The older the film release, the further down the list that’s shown.

When adding multiple Films (ex. 80 for Brady and 80 for Brady Sneak Peak), you can determine which poster is displayed in order of priority via Sort Order. The lower numbered sort order takes higher priority. (lower number > higher number)

Both when adding and editing any of the three feature overrides, you do not need to fill in all of the information. You only need to add the data you want to override the default data. For example, if you only want a different poster changed, then you would leave every other field blank and only add links to the posters in the appropriate fields. Any blank fields will pull in the default data we have.

TMDB Override

Features that have the same TMDB listing assigned will be affected by this type of Override. This type has the lowest precedence and changes made will only override the default data.

Company-Wide Override

Features with the same Code will be affected by this type. Changes made here will override changes made in the same field in TMDB Overrides as well as the default data.

If you forgot to include the TMDB URL/ID when adding the film in your system, Company-Wide Overrides can be used to assign the film to an existing feature. In the override there is a dropdown labelled Feature ID. This list contains all the films in TTK that have been matched to a TMDB entry. Simply select the correct Feature ID and Updated the override. You do not need to enter any other information. TTK will pull the feature details and assets from TMDB

Location-Specific Override

This will only affect the specific feature at the one location displayed. Changes made here will override the changes in the same fields in TMDB and Company-Wide Overrides as well as the default data.

Separating/Combining Films

If you find that films on your website are being separated or combined incorrectly there are a few factors that contribute to this.

  • TMDB: Each film should have a TMDB ID associated with it. If you find that there are different posters for the same film, it is likely that there are entries in your POS that are missing the TMDB ID or have the incorrect TMDB ID entered. This can be resolved by entering the correct ID in the POS or assigning the Feature ID manually using a Company-Wide Override.
  • Title: Films with the same title will be combined into one feature on the website. Films with different titles will be shown separately. For example, if there is one entry in your POS titled “BATMAN” and another titled “THE BATMAN” these will be displayed as separate posters. Assuming both films have the TMDB ID, you can combine or separate films by changed the Title field in an Override.

Remember to hit the Update button after you made all the changes you want. Once you’ve done that, in order for the changes to take immediate effect on your website you will want to head to the Dashboard and hit the Refresh Global Cache button.
